I'll be honest, I'm picky when it comes to watching icons on Youtube. Its a trade for them that I at times can't understand. But its just as well the perfect way to synchronize ones sense of humor with anothers' sense of video creativity and take ownership of something completely outlandish that works. I find that in Toby Turner a.k.a Tobuscus. For those that don't know this guy than shame on you, you better give me a good excuse if you don't know him! He's an internet personality with the perfect touch of gamer and the obvious splash of comedian. Infamous in his pieces like the "Literal Assassin's Creed Trailer" and randomly charming songs like "Nugget in a Biscuit." And his playthrough for Skyrim which is unbelievably hilarious.
It's unfortunate that he's not the main star of "Whistle While Work It". This music video stars Chester See as he attempts to stray from his usual piano crooning ballads. Featuring a thickeningly heavy dose of auto-tune and flamboyance. Chester and his crew hit up a club with cameos of popular Youtube stars that you may be familiar with including Timothy DeLaGhetto, Lana McKissak, Andrew Garcia and many more. The real treat is that Wayne Brady makes an appearance straight after his debut on the phoenix-incarnated 'Whose Line It Is Anyway?' to bust some lyrics and get bitch swerved.
The song is hardly anything to be excited about as it easily falls flat at times to downright unimpressive. It seems like everyone is trying too hard, See overswag's and Toby oversings more than he usually does. But all that aside its' definitely a tune that grows on you once it's stuck in your head and the dance is addicting. In hindsight you watch the video more for the guest appearances than actual musical inclination. The best Youtube appearance that touched me was the addition of The Fu Brothers that had almost won the debut season of Internet Icon. Including them not only gives the duo more recognition as artists but also demonstrates the perfect dynamic of the ever changing and sometimes unstable Youtube community. Toby also reflects this progress as it's good to finally see him making new friends.
The highlights for this song easily are the comically perfect expressions of Toby that he's well known for and Wayne dropping a guest verse on if he has to choke a bitch. Toby's awkward dancing and smiles underneath flimsy yellow plastic sunglasses is charming and endearing in it's own way. The name Wayne Brady explains itself.
One thing I was peeved about was the fact that YOMYOMF felt the need to hint that their dance was something "innovative" and "new" that will catch on. I think they're crazy, the pelvic thrust is Micheal Jacksons Mowtown trademark. You can't expect to tape on someone elses face and expect it to look original. -.- That's dumb.
There are three alternate video endings: one on YOMYOMF, one on Tobuscus, and one on See’s channel. Really, the only thing that changes is the explosion at the end. The three endings seem like a clever way for the video’s creators to get three separate views from each viewer. There is no real big difference between either. Nonetheless, this video is as entertaining as the title sounds and definitely worth a watch.
And if you really believe that they fall from the sky, sorry to burst your dreams but no not literally.
